Pidichirukku-Ashok, Visaka, Ganja KaruppuDirection: Kanagu Music: Manu RamesanProduction: Senbagakumar

Pidichirukku
Cast : Ashok, Visaka, Ganja KaruppuDirection: Kanagu Music: Manu RamesanProduction: Senbagakumar
Director Kanagu, erstwhile assistant director to Linguswamy, debuts with Pidichirukku for producer Senbagakumar. Incidentally, Kanagu assisted Lingusamy during the making of the much-delayed Bheema that is now making it to the theaters alongside Pidichirukku. The movie stars Ashok as the hero (in his second film, after the average grosser Muruga) and debutant Visaka as the heroine.
It’s a plot we are all familiar with: boy from a humble background falls in love with a rich girl, and the travails their love takes them through. Kanagu keeps this clichéd plot engaging by the fine little details he works into the script. The story begins with Ashok meeting with an accident when Visaka’s duppatta flies away and falls on him. Ashok happened to be traveling behind her in a bike. He owns a goods transport agency and this accident turns things topsy-turvy. Visaka’s sympathy for him predictably turns to love (in a by-the-numbers manner we’ve become accustomed to) and the ever so reluctant Ashok returns her love. But all the newfound happiness blossoming between the two is short lived when the girl’s father discovers their secret. A desperate attempt by Ashok to win her back leads to chaos. To get Visaka away from Ashok, her father takes voluntary transfer and the family leaves for Pune. By the time Ashok finds out, she is gone, leaving him shell shocked.
His long search for his love, and his toils to find her with the help of his friend (played by Kanja Karuppu) forms the rest of the story. All this leads to a pretty interesting but not entirely unpredictable climax. The events that lead up to the conflict in the screenplay seem well composed and without glitches (barring the aurally intolerable comedy by Ganja Karuppu). The second half is when the screenplay becomes a paradox, contradicting the hypothesis that it so far held and even banked upon. Only Ashok’s struggles to find Visaka are portrayed in detail, while her own pain at being separated is hardly depicted, making the audience second guess if their love is for real or is just one sided. (The script doesn’t make any attempt to explain it at the end either). An over-emphasis on the hero’s quest (while in Pune) for the heroine makes the second half a little disengaging, blotting an otherwise smooth narrative.
Ashok’s performance in the romantic scenes (especially when he is on the verge of losing hope of finding his beloved) shows consummate ease. A promising future lies ahead for this young actor. As for Visaka, there isn’t much to write home about except to note that she breathes life into the romantic scenes. Saranya as the heroine’s mother gives a standout performance, while Kanja Karuppu’s humor isn’t funny and is everything short of aural torture. He needs better writers to pen situations and lines that suit him. Sampath Raj who plays the girl’s father, an ex-service man turned customs officer, brings depth to his character. Though music by Manu Rameshan seems to be in tune with the movie, only two songs really make the cut.

Verdict: A love story purely for young lovers dying to see themselves in love stories about separation and longing.

Pidichirukku - Only first half

Vazhthukal - Madhavan, BhavanaDirection: SeemanMusic: Yuvan Shankar RajaProduction: T. Shiva, Bhavana

Vazhthukal
Cast : Madhavan, BhavanaDirection: SeemanMusic: Yuvan Shankar RajaProduction: T. Shiva
There are only a handful of Tamil movies that deal with family values and even fewer that look at what happens to neglected and lonely parents after their children have married and moved away. It is this rare theme that director Seeman explores in Vazhthukal, which stars, among others, Madhavan, Bhavana, Venkat Prabhu and Vijayalakshmi.

The story begins with people searching for Madhavan, who is shown sitting in a train with his parents in a rather somber state. Cut to a flashback: Maddy is the CEO of Amma, a software company that supports several social causes. He is disillusioned about marriage after he sees the parents of his close friends seeking asylum in an old age home run by Amma. Their son deserts them when his selfish, hardhearted wife demands that they go to an old age home. Maddy's father lets him look for a bride himself. He is attracted to Bhavana, whom he spots in a TV programme that showcases young achievers. Her opinion on family values floors him completely. She even sings praises about her huge joint family with a host of brothers and their wives. Along with his friend and colleague, Venkat Prabhu, Maddy sets off to Bhavana’s college, hoping to woo her.

He runs through a variety of his usual romantic antics to make her fall for him. Maddy finally pounces on an opportunity that falls into his lap: to renovate her family house with the help of a leading interior designer. This way, he finally wins a place in her heart. This is when the movie reveals that this huge family headed by Bhavana’s grandfather is opposed to love marriages. How Maddy finds a place in the hearts of every family member and changes their mind about love forms the rest of the story. The plot unfolds in the most clichéd manner possible with all the characters seeming wax-like. The family seem flawless, the kind of people you don’t see in the real world but always see in the films of Vikraman. The idea of Maddy doing up the house’s interiors with tips from the interior designer seems amateurish, and the result isn't aesthetically pleasing either. For a movie with two major stars, Vazhthukal is also technically mediocre. The camera work is rather plain, and the songs only slow down an already sluggish narrative. Director Seeman seems to suggest that films are just a medium to express your opinions on society and its values.

The result, the movie pans out into a medium of propaganda rather than a visually rich, soulful narrative. Though the intention is good, his attempt to have no English words in the dialogues seems too contrived. The first half of the story is wasted in an elaborate introduction of all the characters and the plot reaches a (so-called) stage of conflict only well into the second half.Madhavan’s lively performance, though, is what keeps the film at least a little engaging. And his chemistry with Bhavana is the other saving grace in this listless movie. But even this is marred by Seeman's self-conscious poetic one-liners that make the romantic scenes appear more funny than sensual. Vijyalakshmi as the interior designer lends credibility to her character, while Venkat Prabhu's humor doesn't work at all. Yuvan's background score isn't too bad but it can't lift the movie from its tedium. Vazhthukal might have worked better in the 90s, when family movies were better appreciated.

Verdict: Sluggish and outdated and same as Vijay's Kathalukku mariyathai.

Vazhthukal - Belated

Kaalai - tamil movie review - Simbu, vedika, Tarungopi, Uyir sangeetha, Nila, G.V. Prakash

Cast : Silambarasan, Vedhika, Sangeetha, NilaDirection: Tarun GopiMusic: G V. PrakashProduction: NIC Arts Chakravarthy

First things first. You wouldn’t expect a classic tale of movie making from a director – Tarun Gopi – whose previous credential include a hardcore commercial potboiler, Thimiru. Having said that, we did expect a racy entertainer with Simbhu’s return after a brief sabbatical creating enough and more hype. However, Kaalai, Tarun Gopi’s second venture and first with Simbhu is a classic case of too much in too little time. With too little scenes that substantiate the sense of logic, Tarun Gopi has royally squandered an opportunity.

Less said the better about the story. Simbhu shares his name with two other people - one villain and one cop-turned-baddie and the situations arising out of it promise enough curiosity for a while as soon as the movie opens. However, it eventually fizzles out when the movie takes a turn for better or for worse.

Seema – Simbhu’s grandmother – slays five men, mind you when she was only ten, since they flouted her father’s advices and distilled alcohol illegally in the village also involving in other shady activities. The villagers, for her noble act, consider her their head after her return from the prison and are peaceful under her reign. However, trouble crops up in the name of a police officer – Lal – whose ego is hurt when challenged by the fellow policeman’s son that he can’t find anything illicit in Simbhu’s village, ruled by the godmother Seema.

Lal tries - but to no avail - to nail somebody from the village for any charges and ends being thrashed up the villagers. Predictably, he returns back with a vengeance and in the dirty war, burns Seema alive. Enough reason for Simbhu to seek retribution for his loss. Simbhu returns to Chennai, uses the tried and tested formula to woo Lal’s daughter Vedhika, and after a couple of duets abducts her as a hostage on revenge of his grandmom’s death. With a script that has more holes than a fish net, it’s evident that Simbhu could just not help the ship from sinking. However, his mind-boggling stunt scenes and the dance sequences especially for songs ‘Kutti Pisaase’ and ‘Kaalai Kaalai’ are stupendously performed. Particularly, Kutti Pisaase might send his fans on a nostalgic trip to the good old days when Simbhu sang and danced ‘I am a little star’.Vedika’s character is left to deal with a few duets in measly outfits in exotic locales with an almost innocent face. Alas, she vanishes from the movie abruptly even before its end. Santhanam – Simbhu duo’s comic act has lesser than desired results.

Veteran Seema’s grandmother-godmother act refuses to fade after she is brutally charred alive in the movie. Sangeetha plays Simbhu’s aunt and yes, her role is of utmost importance. If you must insist, here is how. It’s only when she gets spanked by Lal that violence erupts uncontrollably in the village. Lal’s villainy seems to be born with him and he is prominent with his viciousness in the movie that is also swarmed with many other such likes. R.D.Rajasekar’s camera brings in unsullied frames of fresh locales during the duet scenes. G.V. Prakash stands out in two songs and scores an average for background music.

Had Tarun Gopi worked on the script for a taut screenplay coupled with some interesting twists, Simbhu’s Kaalai would definitely have been a joy ride. Verdict: Action - nothing more, nothing less

Ajith's new films - with Raju sundaram -Ayngaran-sheduled in Chennai

After the astounding success of Billa and the birth of his baby girl, Ajith is back to business. His upcoming untitled film is being directed by Raju Sundaram and produced by Ayngaran International. The crew left for Hong Kong after Pongal to can a few stunt sequences. Although the unit had planned their shooting for a month, it
is reported that they have completed their schedule much before the allotted time and now they are back in Chennai. The second schedule of the film is slated to commence from 6th of February and no marks for guessing who is the happiest person to be shooting in Chennai. Yes, it is our very own Ajith who is not missing a single opportunity to be with his baby girl. Unit sources reveal that the actor is thoroughly enjoying his fatherhood and the glow shows on his face.

Vel impresses, Vijay want to work with Hari

Although busy with the backbreaking schedules of Kuruvi, Vijay has recently signed on the dotted line for AVM Balasubramanian’s next production venture making no bones about his next flick, after Kuruvi and another Prabhu Deva directorial venture, that is. This new assignment is likely to hit the floors only by the end of this year.
Inside sources reveal that Vijay is bowled over after watching the Hari directed Vel for its right mix of commercial elements. Last heard, the actor has also insisted AVM to get Hari’s dates for his venture with them. The production house is on the verge of persuading Hari to sign and an official announcement in this regard is expected anytime now.

Kamal talks about Dasavatharam’s music

Kamal Haasan, brand ambassador for Project “Hridaya Ragam – 2008”, surprised everyone present at a charity function held this evening at Greenpark Hotel, Chennai, when he agreed to talk a little bit about Dasavatharam. WMC (World Malayalee Council) Chennai Province will be conducting free paediatric heart surgeries under the Project “Hridaya Ragam – 2008”. Along with
Kamal, present at the event were donors and others concerned with the project. The project’s aim is to raise money for a 100 free heart surgeries for poor children. Malayalam Manorama said that they would like to raise funds for another 25 free paediatric heart surgeries. As the evening drew to a close, people began to ask Kamal about Dasavatharam, Kamal replied with amusement that everywhere he went he was unfailingly asked about the movie, and his answer has always remained the same: that he can’t reveal anything yet. But this evening all that changes, he said suddenly, surprising everyone there. The film will be released in April, he added, and the audio in March. He went on to praise the work of young music composer Himesh Reshammiya. Here is a North Indian, pointed out Kamal, who has composed music that beautifully and perfectly evokes all that is South Indian. Especially period music and songs that evoke 12th century South India.Someone else asked him about a proposed project with Walt Disney. The usually taciturn Kamal Haasan admitted that talks were on to get the Walt Disney project off the ground. Kamal opening up over Dasavatharam, long kept under strict wraps, is indeed great news for fans. From now on, we can hopefully expect Kamal to reveal more.

Tabu in Kuselan? - Superstar Nex Movie - Kusela - Pasupatyhi - Srinivasan's Kathai parayumbol - Heroine tabu

News about Kuselan, the quickie that Rajini will be doing before Robot is everywhere. This Kavithalaya film to be directed by P Vasu is a remake of a Malayalam film titled Katha Paryumbol. The story is said to be woven around Pasupathy and Rajinikanth and the Tamil version will be suitably altered to cater to the audience here especially Rajini fans.

For the role of leading ladies, many names are being discussed. Simran and Tabu are reported to be accompanying Pasupathy and Rajinikanth respectively. But Simran has been roped into do a television serial for Jaya TV and Tabu is extremely busy in Tollywood. This may pose some kind of problem for them to give their dates to Kuselan. Insiders reveal that their featuring in the film is yet to be confirmed by official sources. Meanwhile the only confirmed member of the crew seems to be music director G V Prakash Kumar. It has also been reported that more than twenty popular artists will be making a cameo appearance in Kuselan and hence an official announcement detailing all the cast and crew will be made on the 24th of this month.

DASAVATHARAM - Tamilmovie release date announced (Kamalahasan. Asin, Mallika Sherawat, K.S.Ravikumar, A.R. Rehman, release date of dasavatharam)

We looked forward to a Deepavali release, and when that didn't happen, we hoped for Pongal. Like the now legendary ten roles Kamal will play in Dasavatharam, we began to wonder if the film's release too would acquire myriad release dates! Meanwhile, we had to be content hearing the entire buzz the movie was creating: the fabulous make-up involved,

the spectacular stunts, and second guessing which heroine will be paired against which avatharam. But the suspense is over now; the release date of what is perhaps the most awaited movie of the year has finally been officially announced.Dasavatharam will hit theatres on April 10, 2008. But wait – there's a hotter buzz. The total prints for release numbers to an astounding 1200. Never in the history of tamil movies has there been so many prints made for a movie. The movie is set to release not just all over South India (Tamilnadu: 275 prints, Andhra: 225, Kerala: 75, Karnataka: 75) but also all over North India with 300 Hindi prints. Prints going overseas total 250. All this could only mean that Kamal knows for certain that in Dasavatharam he has a blockbuster that will outdo everything else lined up this year.

Super star Rajini's roll get's bigger - Rajini as mamooty- Rajini's next film Katha Parayumbol Rajini as Mammoty chetan the importance of role

All of Tamilnadu is reeling under surprise ever since the superstar announced his next project only a few months after his magnum opus Sivaji. And this time around it is not one but two projects in a row. The first project, awaiting official confirmation, is a short one for his mentor K. Balachander's Kavithalaya Productions, which is to be directed by P. Vasu.

It will be a remake of the Malayalam film Katha Parayumbol directed by Mohanan starring Mammooty, Sreenivas and Meena, which released all over Kerala last Christmas and is running to packed houses and was also critically well received. In Katha Parayumbol, Mammooty played the role of a superstar and appeared only in a few scenes but it was a very significant role. In the Tamil version, however, sources indicate director P. Vasu has considerably increased the length of Rajini’s role so as to please his fans but it will still only occupy a minor part in the film, significant nevertheless. He has even adapted the story to suit the Tamil audiences they say. Actor Pasupathy will play the role essayed by Sreenivas in the original. Vasu has requested Rajini to allocate a mere 10 days, which is an indication on the duration of his role. Another aspect is that Rajini will not have a leading lady opposite him, reports say. Hope Rajini's fans can get enough of their superstar on screen. After all they are the ones who bring in the moolah.

Kuselan- Super Star's next film - Sivaji K.Balachander - P.Vasu -Kathai Parayumpol - Rajini as mamooty- Super star next movie film

Before the excitement of Sivaji and its success could ebb down, announcement about Super Star Rajnikanth's forthcoming projects and the twin bonanza has generated a lot of frenzy among his fans and well wishers across the globe. Though the time taken to complete his grandiose venture Robot with Shankar could be a little longer,

Rajnikanth has ensured to sustain the exhilaration among his fans by featuring in a film to be produced by Kavithalaya and directed by P Vasu. This film titled Kuselan is based on a Malayalam film Katha Parayumbol which featured Mammooty and Sreenivasan in the lead roles. The Malayalam version dealt deeply the friendship and relationship between a barber and a popular film star. In Kuselan, Rajnikanth will be playing the role of Mammooty and Pasupathy will take on Sreenivasan's character. Inside sources reveal that the name Kuselan is chosen from Hindu mythology where he happens to be Lord Krishna's childhood friend and the latter comes to his rescue when he is in a very bad state of poverty. Looks like the Super Star's Kuselan also will highlight the significance of true friendship. An apt title indeed

Kuruvi on a Chopper - Vija's New film - Udayanidhi production Trsha vivek Manivannan Suman

You have heard of planes crashing due to bird hit, but this time it's about a bird in a chopper. This one is for Vijay's film Kuruvi. Incidentally, this film's shooting was on in Malaysia for a long time and the crew had only recently returned to Chennai. A stunt scene was picturised with Vijay taking on few men who belong to the African mafia in a huge bar-cum-disco set erected for this purpose.

Kuruvi's crew is following another trend that was started off again by Rajini's Sivaji, where the superstar uses a chopper to travel to a village and even in the climax. Chopper was also used to shoot a tsunami sequence in Kamal Haasan's Dasavatharam. Aerial shots using choppers are not new to Tamil cinema, just that it is now being used for more relevant scenes than only a few shots in a song. In Kuruvi, the director has used a chopper to shoot an entire song sequence to give it a feel of grandeur. Directors are now willing to go any lengths to experiment even in the technical department.

Pirivom-santhippom- Movie - review - Cheran, Sneha, Karu. PalaniAppan, Vidyasagar

Cast : Cheran, Sneha, Jeyaram, Murugesan, SN Lakshmi, Vital Rao, Sangeetha, Mouli, Ganja Karuppu,T K Kala, Baby, Rajalakshmi, MS Baskar, Balasingh, Rani, Sujatha, Shanmugarajan, Harris Moosa, Devadarshni, Lakshmi Ramakrishnan, Jeyalakshmi, Annadurai Kannadasan, Mahadevan, Lakshmanan

Direction: Karu Pazhaniappan

Music: Vidyasagar

Production: Gnanam Films

Karu. Pazhaniappan the director of Pirivom Santhippom, by not infusing commercial elements of filmmaking such as violence and punch dialogues, has come up with almost a picture perfect movie.

The crux of the story is that the hero belongs to a huge joint family, while the heroine is a bubbly single-child, always surrounded by her close friends. She also aspires to live in a big family with people encircling her all the time. The two unite in matrimony. Sneha just loves being around with her husband’s mammoth family, whereas Cheran starts longing for some private moments with his wife. Cheran who eventually gets promoted and transferred to a different place, is happy of the development whereas Sneha is a bit troubled. What impact this transfer has on Sneha forms the rest of the story.

Kudos to Pazhaniappan for the natural narration and the impeccable characterization. Great attention has been given to even minute details of story building. Sneha’s as well as Cheran’s intro has been well conceived to show that they both belong to a very different family set-up yet have grown up in a similar atmosphere. The lead pair’s different perceptive has also been well portrayed in the scene where they choose the wedding invitations. Even sequence wherein Sneha drops a coin into a lord Ganesh-shaped moneybox has significance that is showed as the film progresses.

Even sequence wherein Sneha drops a coin into a lord Ganesh-shaped moneybox has significance that is showed as the film progresses.

A scene, which is definitely worth mentioning and heartrending, is the one right after the interval, when Sneha finds her entire family at the new place where the hero is transferred, only to realise later that it is a dream. The heroine’s loneliness has been etched out very well in scenes where she pulls up conversation with the electrician, TV mechanic and the dhobi-woman and in scenes where she listens to the taped voices and sounds to thwart the feeling of desolation. Jeyaram’s character, as a general physician, is a real treat. In simple terms, he has done a commendable job. Sneha’s role will be talked about for a long time to come. She uses her eyes very effectively to emote and express her inner feelings. Cheran is restrained and respectful. MS Bhaskar, Super Good Laxman and Ganja Karuppu are impressive as the support cast.

There is nothing in the movie that can be termed as a negative, that is, if you don’t mind the slow pace post-intermission, though that is inevitable, considering the storyline. Even if one could predict what is bound to happen post-interval, the director has managed to keep the tale gripping with the screenplay.

Editing, art and camera work by Saravana, Rajeevan and Prabhu, respectively, fit seamlessly well into the movie, so much so that it is inconspicuous to the audience. Songs flow effortlessly into the narrative, but it is in background-score that Vidyasagar clearly stands out. Easily one of the best efforts of recent times. The dialogues are well conceptualized and written.
As mentioned earlier, though the second part of the film moves at a slower pace, the climax is short and crisp with a director’s touch. What is also worth appreciating is omission of scenes that would have dampened the story’s spirit. While most of the directors might have tried to cash in on an intimate scene right after the wedding, this film has shifted its focus from that trend.

Finally, this film is not for those who wish to have a gala time, whistling or catcalling. If you wish to see quality cinema then head to theatres that show Pirivom Santhippom. Perhaps you might not see a better family movie in the near future.

Bheema - Movie review - Vikram, Trisha, Prakash Raj, Sherin, Raguvaran, Harris Jayaraj , Linguswamy

Bheema

Cast : Vikram, Trisha, Prakash Raj, Sherin, Raguvaran

Direction: Linguswamy

Music: Harris Jayaraj

Production: A M Rathnam

Bheema became one of the longest awaited Tamil movies of recent times not just for the hype it created but also for the time it took, from completion to release. And when a movie is usually this delayed, the hype and hoopla surrounding it fizzles out, but Bheema only became bigger with expectations rising with each passing day. There are several reasons for this: One, this is Vikram’s first movie after two years. Two, Vikram and Trisha pair up for the first time since the extremely successful Saami. Three, Bheema is Lingusamy’s follow-up to the stupendously successful Sandakozhi. And four, Harris Jeyaraj’s soulful songs. But here’s the lowdown: in spite of all the above reasons, the movie doesn’t quite live up to its colossal hype.

In Bheema, Vikram plays a man who has, since childhood, idolized Prakashraj, a gangster with a heart of gold. Vikram grows up to become a no-nonsense, street smart, powerful young man. Impressed with his courage, Prakashraj embraces him, inducting him into the gang. And with Vikram as his right hand man, Prakashraj gradually becomes the godfather of the city. He even outrivals his archrival, Raguvaran. Filled with rage, Raghuvaran and his two sons attempt to kill Prakashraj and take back the city. But with Vikram by his side they are unable to touch the newly crowned godfather. Meanwhile, Vikram falls in love with Trisha, and he becomes so lost in love that he loses focus and concentration on the job, nearly threatening the life of his idol. Vikram is now forced to choose between work and love. What Vikram will choose forms the rest of this tale.

On some level Bheema bears a striking resemblance to Maniratnam’s Dalapathy. As director, Lingusamy succeeds in provoking riveting performances from all the actors, but as scriptwriter he’s not as successful in keeping us involved. From the first reel to the last reel Bheema is packed with the sound of gunfire and fisticuffs – the wirework and action scenes are stunning but as the movie winds down, the relentless violence gets to you. The first half is full of incident but the pace slackens in the second half, no thanks to some inappropriate song placement that spoils the fun. Bheema is full of style but little substance. As in all our masala entertainers, logic takes a back seat. A gravity-defying stunt in a shopping mall restroom is close to being preposterous. However, when Bheema is not about gunfire and fisticuffs, Linguswamy handles several scenes deftly. The scene where a very drunk Vikram spoils a birthday party and talks back to the police commissioner is unforgettable for Vikram’s magnificent acting and some well penned dialogues.

Prakashraj, as always, comes up with a topnotch performance. His role is well etched and this versatile actor makes the most out of it. Vikram once again stuns us with his subtle body language, incendiary acting and skillful dialogue delivery. Trisha’s role is bubbly and this talented heroine makes the most of it, looking cute all through the film and ravishing in the song sequences. Raghuvaran delivers that slick, sly villain he is so well know for. Thalaivasal Vijay is competent, reminding you of the Iyer role Delhi Ganesh played so well in Nayagan. As the police commissioner, Aashish Vidyarthi is superb.

Technically, Bheema is brilliant. RD Rajasekhar’s cinematography is a treat for the eyes, especially the Mudhal Mazhai song, which is shot ravishingly. His camera work here is certain to win him laurels. Anthony’s editing is terrific except in a few places where it is not always seamless. The stunts by Kanal Kannan will be a major draw, particularly the fight sequence in the market place where slow motion is used to great effect.
Ahmed Khan’s choreography is understated and tasteful. Harris Jeyaraj’s music, of course, is very good. Unfortunately, some of his songs are inappropriately placed in the film, taking away some of the luster. However, “Oru Mugamo” and “Ragasiya Kanavugal” are memorable numbers that are also shot beautifully. For pure lovers of action, Bheema might just be the Pongal movie they are looking for, but those expecting an action movie with a strong story will be disappointed.

Ajith flies to Hong Kong - For his next Movie

Ultimate star Ajith is on cloud nine with the stupendous success of Billa and his elation reached a higher zenith with wife Shalini delivering a baby girl. On the professional front, he had committed to a film to be directed by Raju Sundaram which was reported to commence after Shalini’s delivery as the couple was keen that Ajith be present during her labor.

Now that everything has fallen in place, he has decided to resume work from the 18th, after celebrating Pongal with his family. The actor along with Raju Sundaram’s crew is all set to fly to Hong Kong on the 18th where they intend to start filming the stunt scenes which is an unusual norm in the industry. The reason, sources say, is that they haven’t zeroed in on the leading lady. Many names had done the rounds in the past few weeks starting first with Shriya and things have now come a full circle as the Sivaji lady seems to be the person most likely to play Ajith’s lady love. The next biggest movie in USA after Sivaji - Bhemma - Vikram

It's official. One of the most talked about and expected movies of recent times will finally hit the screens on Jan 15th. It has been a long wait for Vikram. But people who have seen select few rushes of the movie, swear it's worth every inch. Yes we are talking about Bheema, the Lingusami directed, Vikram, Trisha and Praskash Raj starrer.

With producer A.M.Ratnam's long fought financial battle over, the industry is also keenly watching the outcome of the movie. The movie seems to have garnered a bigger expectation among the fans in USA. A record number of ten prints have already been allotted for the United States, with few more likely to come in. This movie is next only to Rajinikanth's magnum opus Sivaji as far as the number of prints goes. Sivaji's Tamil version had 21 prints for USA alone. An undisclosed whopping price is said to have been paid by the distributor for the American rights of the movie. Bharath Creations who distributed Sivaji are the rights holder for both the Tamil and Telugu version of Bheema. The first set of areas to have the movie screened would be Bay Area, New Jersey, Chicago, Boston, Detroit, Dallas, Atlanta, Minneapolis & Raleigh, Virginia, LA, Seattle and Houston. Talking to Behindwoods.com, distributor and head of Bharath Creations, Mr. Mohan expressed immense happiness over the movie, "We are doing Bheema after Sivaji and are pretty confident about a good run. The expectations are great, Vikram has always been a favorite in the US, and his sabbatical for two years has only added to it." Billa - Makes all a star

The first big budget remake film, Billa, has broken the impression skeptics and cynics had on remakes making it big in Tamil. It is no doubt a runaway success and has reinstated Ajith as a star even more firmly among audiences. Vishnuvardhan’s Billa was talked about for its slick and stylish looks and has been instrumental in changing the course of many actors’ careers.

He did so for Arya and Pooja in Pattiyal. Even the already popular Nayanthara is getting offers from across the country for her chic looks. However, this time, it is veteran actor Prabhu’s turn, whose performance as the DSP was appreciated by one and all. He has now become a hot property among directors who desire to cast him in pivotal characters in their films.Silambarasan, busy with the shooting of Silambattam, is trying hard to rope in Prabhu for an important character in his film. When questioned on this, he said that the character is a very significant one and that his presence would give it more grace. Isn’t that what you call second lease of life?
